' Jar with Vases'  oil on canvas. Size 12 x16. After studying Oil Painting Secrets from a Master. Recommended book for my still life class I decided to set up a still life of these objects to practice ellipses, value, and form. I also wanted a loser style than what I painted. But overall I am content with how it turned out. I feel anxious about this summer classes; landscape and still life. I think its because it is a quick pace session. Cramming all 15 module weeks into 7 weeks; starts June 25 and ends Aug 15. Happy though that I don't have to report to work until August 15 so I have planned out my schedule  working in intervals of 45 minutes of class work to 15 minutes of exercise/outside breaks from 6 am to 9:15 pm. I am working in oil paints for both classes so hoping to work asap as the paint dries using a mix of gamsol and linseed oil and if that doesn't work gamsol and stand oil. Trial and error first week then moving forward.

Well... I wasn't going to do any art on this mini summer break before class start on June 24 but I got restless creatively. I wake with the excitement of being able to create. It's being a daily routine like brushing my teeth. My husband and I love going to the lake and he really loves fishing while I'm pretending the fish LOL.. I go because I love to spend quality serene quite time with him, love watching the sunrise and set over the water and watching the sky change. I love to see nature transition throughout the day. Going to take more photos when we go again. This is a reference photo found online.  June 30 is the Pancake and Booze art show so I will have this one framed and for sale. I have too stop holding on to my original paintings so I will have others at a big discount price.

Spring 2018 Semester

What a challenging and rewarding semester.. I took 9 graduate hours. Chiaroscuro, Color Theory and Figure Drawing. I can see the improvement in my work. With depth and perspective and blending more with charcoal. In color theory I really got into learning the psychology of color and its relationship to each other. My favorite assignments are above from the classes. The most challenging of my course would be figure drawing. I had a rough start with establishing the gesture and seeing the shapes within the body. I will be working on this more through the years. I don't want to not be able to teach it at college level without getting better myself. Summer classes; Landscape and Still Life Painting. I am eager to take both of these classes.
